Jain Vishva Bharati Institute

Mission, Moto and Goal

Lord Mahavira said 2600 years ago 'Nanassa Saram Ayaro' i.e. "Right conduct is the essence of knowledge." This spiritual voice is the motto of the University. Every programme and every activity is directed towards the realisation of this motto. The goal of JVBI has been clearly spelt out in the preamble of JVBI's constitution which reads:

"The Jain Vishva Bharati Institute is an endeavour in the direction of putting into practice and to promote and propagate the high ideals of Anekanta (non-absolutist outlook), Ahimsa (Non-violence), Tolerance and Peaceful Co-existence for the weal of mankind"

"We the members of Jain Vishva Bharati, therefore, resolve to constitute and establish the said University of Advanced Studies, Research and Training in Jainology in the context of comparative studies in Jainology, World Religions, Ahimsa (Non-violence) and World Peace."

This University, combines the oretical research with practical research, in other words, it combines gyan (knowledge) and dhyan (meditation). The University is however free from any religious affiliations. It draws its spiritual strength and direction from Acharya Mahaprajna, who is above any sectarian bias.
