Introduction

Jainism is one of the ancient religions of shramana culture. Above than being a religion and philosophy it is more a way of living. The basic principle of Jain philosophy is "nanassa saramayaro" — conduct is the essence of knowledge.
Jain scriptures are the treasure of vast knowledge. They postulate multifaceted aspects of learning such as ontology, metaphysics, ethics, logic, philosophy, politics, economics, ecology, health, social life, education, mathematics, management etc.
The course of Jainology and Comparative Religion & Philosophy has been introduced to understand the unique principles of Jainism and their relevance in modern era. It also aims to provide the comparative study of Jain philosophy with other Indian and Western philosophies.
